This year, MACS is going back to the Visayas.
Exactly a year ago, our country was struck with a catastrophic typhoon, Yolanda, that left thousands lifeless and thousands more homeless. But not hopeless.
CHARIS Foundation, while still very much in infancy, initiated a project for young Yolanda victims with the objective of uplifting their spirit during Christmas. The project was MACS (Make A Child Smile), a gift-giving project where a generous MACS Ninong/Ninang chooses a child to sponsor a simple Christmas wish.
Because of the overflowing generosity of the MACS Ninong/Ninangs and some corporate sponsors, CHARIS Foundation was able to conduct MACS in three locations – Tolosa (Leyte), San Remigio (Cebu), and Fabella DSWD Center (Mandaluyong).
This year, CHARIS conduct MACS in an area which was indirectly affected by Typhoon Yolanda – Bohol.
Bohol was stuck by a 7.2 earthquake weeks before Yolanda came to Leyte. Because of this, rehabilitation aid was focused mainly on Yolanda-damaged areas.
Worst affected by the earthquake were the municipalities closest to the epicenter, such as Sagbayan, San Isidro, Calape, Tubigon, Clarin and Catigbian.
Among the municipalities, we’ve chosen Clarin to be the site of this year’s MACS.
Please watch this site for more updates on how you can help in his CHARIS Christmas project, the MACS project.
