For some, birthdays are ways to count the years of a loved one.

For CHARIS, it’s a way to get together and make plans for an exciting set of projects ahead.

The occasion was CHARIS President Chris Tiu’s birthday dinner which was celebrated in one of Bonifacio High Street’s newest restaurant and was attended by the CHARIS Board  and core group members.

It was also an occasion to celebrate CHARIS’s one year of existence since its inception in the second quarter of last year.

Even in CHARIS’s rookie season, it already conducted a number of activities/programs that include:

a. Medical/Sports Clinic/Nation-building Outreach Program in Nueve de Pebrero School in Mandaluyong

b. Make-A-Child Smile (MACS) Project for Yolanda survivors in multiple sites (Tolosa, Leyte; San Remigio, Cebu; Fabella Center, Mandaluyong)

c. CHARIS Leadership Summit with guest speakers Cong. Lucy Torres-Gomez, Cong. Karlo Nograles, Cardinal Tagle, historian Paul Dumol, etc.

d. Leading Leaders Seminar in Cebu City participated by youth leaders and young professionals (Breaking News: the participants were then able to give a similar seminar to students of University of San Carlos on July 19, 2014)

During the dinner, a number of new projects was proposed which will add flavor to the existing ones.

The future indeed looks very exciting.

For now, CHARIS takes heart from its learning from the past year. And what better way to commemorate it than to celebrate it a birthday 🙂
