On a weekend when almost all Filipinos were preoccupied in anticipating the Philippines most famous sportsman-leader Manny Pacquiao’s most crucial fight — a fight that could spark his retirement — Cebu-based young professional group ICAN brought CHARIS Foundations’ Leading Leaders seminar-workshop in PAREF Springdale School that was attended by more than 20 select students and promising young professionals from Cebu.
The Leading Leaders activity was one of the suggested activity by iCAN to CHARIS during the first CHARIS Leadership Summit (CLS) on March 1, 2014 in UA&P where most iCAN members attended.
Leading Leaders is a leadership seminar-workshop that focuses forming leaders with a strong foundation in virtue. It espoused that good governance depends on people brought up in an ethic of service, on right values instilled in the hearts of leaders while they are young.
The iCAN-led Leading Leaders in Cebu was facilitated by CHARIS members Jomari Umali, Jonats Alforte and Mark Anthony Goroy. Jomari gave an overview of Leading Leaders and delivered the talk Essentials of Leadership and workshop VOICE Analysis. Jonats delivered the talks Foundations of Virtue and The Youth in Nation-Building. Mark handled the workshops Coat of Arms, Clay Hero and Shoe Box Sale.
Most of the participants were from Cebu schools that included Cebu Institute of Medicine, San Carlos University and Cebu Normal University while some were young professionals from different companies and businesses in Cebu.
